Overview

This course surveys current theories of deterrence and coercive diplomacy, relating them to a variety of applied problems in crisis management. Special attention is given to political psychological factors, crisis communication styles, extended deterrence and the implications of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction for conventional deterrence. Prerequisites: None.
