Overview

In this first course on the electrical transmission of signals, the theory, design, and operation of analog and digital communication systems are investigated. Included are A/D conversion, modulation, demodulation, frequency-division multiplexing, and time-division multiplexing.

Prerequisites

  • EC2200
  • EC2410

Learning Outcomes

  • To obtain an understanding of the time and frequency descriptions of analog and digital messages in communications.
  • To understand sampling and pulse modulation which may occur prior to message transmission.
  • To understand the time and frequency descriptions of amplitude and angle modulation and the implementation of modulators, demodulators, and waveform recovery techniques.
