Overview
This course introduces students to foundational techniques for preparing and analyzing data. Each week, students will learn one or more concepts, and then apply acquired skills in a structured learning exercise. Topics include: pivot tables, visualization, data storage and retrieval, computer programming, summary statistics, and an introduction to probability and probability distributions.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students should:

Be able to visualize data with a variety of tables / plots / charts / graphs.

Have a deeper understanding of how computer programming enables analytics, including the use of logical statements and loops.

Be able to select appropriate summary statistics, compute them, and explain results observed.

Use the laws of probability to calculate the likelihood of certain events, including conditional probabilities.

Understand the basics of probability distributions.
