NS4425: Russian Foreign Policy - NPS Online
Overview
This advanced seminar introduces theoretical approaches to the study of foreign policy and focuses on the content of post-soviet Russia's foreign policy. Students will learn what Russia's foreign policy consists of and who or what makes it. The course aims to give students a greater ability to analyze the critical determinants of foreign policy and an in-depth understanding of the various aspects of contemporary Russia's foreign policy interests. Prerequisites: None.

Learning Outcomes
· Understand the impact of Russian culture, history, economics, politics, and geography on Russian foreign policy.
· Understand the range of policy tools used by the Russian leadership in the pursuit of the country’s foreign policy interests.
· Demonstrate an ability to present a Russian perspective effectively in a relevant foreign policy decision-making scenario.
· Demonstrate a knowledge of Russia’s priorities in its relationship to the United States as well as options for U.S. policy-makers in dealing with Russia.
