Research Information

Welcome to the Naval Research Program!

The Naval Postgraduate School’s Naval Research Program (NRP) is funded by the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) and supports research projects for the Navy. The NRP research projects are comprised of individual research teams, where projects are conducted, NPS expertise is developed, and then maintained, on behalf of the Navy.

NPS Wargaming Center

  • Access to wargaming education through the NPS Wargaming Mobile Education Team (MET).
  • The opportunity to sponsor an NPS student wargaming team to design, develop, conduct, and analyze a wargame for their organization in the 11-week resident course.
  • Support, advice, and assistance from NPS wargaming experts as organizations stand up organic wargaming capabilities and capacity.
  • Execution of Chief of Naval Operations (CNO)–directed Title 10 wargames that explore opportunities to strengthen relationships with allies and partners.

Research Farming

The USMC Reseach Farming pilot program, launched in Summer 2025, is extending to all Naval Research to include PacFlt and INDOPAC Initiatives which will increase the return on investment of NPS’ unique and multi-faceted academic capabilities in support of Naval research requirements.
